Hey folks, here's your first reminder of our August schedule. The next regular club meeting is Sunday August 12th from 2-5PM in the Central Library auditorium. We will be watching an episode or two of Trinity Blood, something from ADV and more Ouran High School Host Club.
The Lock-In is planned for Saturday the 18th from 9PM to 9AM. For more details about that, check out the previous post.
This month's Movie Night will be held on Thursday, August 23rd from 7PM to 9PM (doors open at 6:30). The movie will be the spectacular "City Hunter", starring Jackie Chan. This is a Chinese movie based on the Japanese manga/anime. It's really wild and pretty funny, so make plans to be there.
Now, a reminder about the rules: The club is open to anyone 14 and up, all movies/shows shown will be rated no higher than PG-13 or TV14, although that may include some borderline content. Registration is required for anyone who comes to the regular meetings but not for the movie nights. There is no charge for membership or snacks consumed. Anyone who attends any event is agreeing to abide by Library Policies regarding customer behavior as set forth here. Please feel free to invite your friends or family (as long as they're 14 and up or get parental permission).
The staff of the Anime Club wants everyone to have as fun a time as possible and feel like the library is a place you can come to for enjoyment and socializing as well as getting a good book to read. On that note, don't forget that we've got a large and growing manga collection at all branches. Linda has been putting together a list of titles the library owns across all our locations so you know what to request when you don't see it on the shelves.
Check out the display cases at the entrance to Central Library. The Anime Club will have a display set up for the month of August with Linda and Mildred (Kristina) in charge of the display. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions about the display cases, please feel free to write me and I'll relay the message.
Update: We just got the package from ADV and this month's disc is Innocent Venus. It's a post-apocalyptic sci-fi future kind of thing. Looks interesting.

More Lock-in news
Ok, we've got it set for the 18th. Right now we're planning on a 9PM-9AM event.
Hey folks, I've got some great news. By the graciousness of one of our librarians, our program actually has a budget for the lock-in. There will be pizza for dinner, in addition to many other goodies (but please feel free to contribute so we can make this as special an event as possible) and we will have something for breakfast. There will be at least two projection screens and one tv for gaming. I'll bring another if at all possible. We will be giving out some very special prizes (stuff we've held back for a special occasion) and we won't be offering them again this year, so this is your only chance to win them. More details to follow.

Locking it in!
Ok, I'm thinking probably the 18th, but that's not confirmed yet. We want to do an all-night lock-in, but I need to know how many of you are going to come before we really lay the groundwork for this. There's a lot of work and planning that goes in to every meeting we have so that you guys can just walk in, grab some snacks, and watch a show, but I really need to know that we're talking about more than 4-5 people here. Please tell me whether you can stay overnight or not. If not, how late could you stay? If you need help convincing your parents, we're going to get some flyers out that may help. Anyway, talk to me people!

Movie Night Coming Up and Lock-in
So glad to see all of you who came last Sunday for our regular meeting. For those of you who didn't, we had a pretty good time and you really should have made it. On to new things...
The next movie night is Thursday the 26th, two weeks from today. We will be showing Volcano High, a Korean high-school-action-comedy-drama-fantasy-karate movie. It's pretty good, and Jiggaro agrees. The show starts at 7 but we'll be there at 6:30 if you want to get there early and grab the good snacks.

It's time to start discussing the lock-in. It's up to you all what night you want to do it. As far as I know, there's no restriction on us choosing any night in the rest of July or August. And of course we'll be taking suggestions for activities on the agenda. Get to it!
