Thanks for coming to the Cosplay workshop. I hope it was informative for those of you who came and that you've got some inspiration for costumes you can make yourself. I'm putting David's tutorial for sword-making online and also the Cosplay slideshow as well as a file with a bunch of links for cosplay and other costume making.
Next weekend (May 30 to June 1st) is A-kon, Dallas' premiere anime event and one of the largest and oldest conventions in the nation. It's going to be lots of fun, with thousands of cosplayers in attendance and hundreds of vendors and just an incredible amount to see and do. If you can make it I suggest you do so. If you can't, figure out how you can go next year!
Our next meeting is Sunday June 8th from 2-5PM in the Central Auditorium (as usual). Bring pictures you took at A-kon if possible. Digital cameras are preferable and ideally these would be put on a flash drive so I can easily load them onto the computer. I can work with SD or micro-SD cards though, so if all you have is your phone camera, use it. Don't forget we'll be doing a picture contest and you don't know what the categories may be. For example, we could pick the best picture of you and a cosplayer, or you and the most cosplayers, or just the most cosplayers in a picture, or you doing something very silly, or the picture with the most foliage in it. You don't know! So take pictures of anything and everything and go for whatever you think is good.
We'll be doing that and probably watching some more Genshiken. Snacks and drinks will be provided as usual, and of course if you can contribute we would appreciate it.
Further along the next movie night is June 26 at 7PM in the auditorium as usual. We'll be watching Vexille. Very cool movie, awesome animation. Come see it if you can.
Alright folks, that's it for now. We'll see you at A-kon or the next meeting!
